📝LAB NOTES
MELANOTAN II (MT-II)
Melanotan II is a synthetic cyclic heptapeptide analog of alpha-melanocyte-stimulating hormone (α-MSH). It acts as a nonselective melanocortin receptor agonist and is studied for its interactions with melanocortin signaling pathways involved in pigmentation, energy regulation and neuroendocrine activity.
TARGETED RESEARCH USE
Melanotan II is primarily investigated for its influence on melanocortin receptors and melanin-producing pathways. Research has examined its effects on melanogenesis and pigmentation through melanocortin-1 receptor signaling.
Because Melanotan II interacts with multiple melanocortin receptor subtypes, it has also been used experimentally to study appetite, energy expenditure, metabolic signaling and centrally mediated physiological responses. These broader effects make MT-II a useful research compound for investigating the diverse functions of the melanocortin system.

Research Note: Melanotan II is a nonselective melanocortin receptor agonist. Its activity across multiple receptor subtypes distinguishes it from compounds designed to interact more selectively with a single melanocortin pathway.
Melanotan II is supplied as a lyophilized powder in a sealed 3 mL vial. Reconstitution is required before laboratory analysis.
